Landed in Bali

We have finally 'landed' in Bali.

Physically - 2,5 weeks ago, and in all other ways just recently, and I am excited to finally share.

It is a different experience to be here with a family now than when I was here alone. A lot more to take into account than just my beautiful SELF.

The flight and having been welcomed again for the first 5 days by our friend with whom I stayed last time made the arrival very smooth. But then finding our own place was quite a challenge. We looked at maybe 20+ long term rental options before we found our spot. It costed a lot of time and energy. But after all we are happy we decided not to compromise and stayed in the discomfort looking for THE place.

We have also been busy with onboarding Alisia into school and letting her integrate in the new culture and language. It started off pretty smooth and exciting, and now we see we need to support and intervene a bit. Today, Dylan had a briefing with one of the teachers asking to meet her in her spirit of independence. The school in Belgium supports her by allowing children to choose their flow while here they guide children much more to do activities all together. The main teacher was very receptive and agreed to build in some flexibility for her.

In Belgium it never happens, but Balinese people on the street touch Alisia and she, for the first time in her life, starts hiding behind me. She doesn't appreciate touch from foreigners, and actually in general any unconsented touch. I had to think about another mother who lives in Portugal writing about the same issue. And even though Balinese people are super sweet, we are empowering her to stretch her arm and say "no".

The morning routine for Alisia here is slightly different. She wakes up and after breakfast jumps in the pool with her pro goggles . Dylan usually follows, if already awake. And in the last few days she not only LEARNED TO SWIM, but also TO DIVE to the bottom of the pool to pick up a stone. I still can't believe it that my daughter can easily do something I can’t (the diving part).

In the meantime, I had a beautiful chance to co-host a temple night here for 70 people with local Tantrika's and to hold a Women Circle. These two events have been a great experience of HEART expansion and JOY. And soon Dylan and I are excited to offer our own temple experience here.

Lots of love,
